Upały a osoby starsze – jak zapobiegać hiponatremii?

Ból i zawroty głowy, zmęczenie, senność, pogorszenie funkcji poznawczych to jedne z bardziej powszechnych objawów, jakie możemy obserwować wśród starszych pacjentów w przychodniach czy szpitalach, szczególnie gdy temperatury za oknem stają się wyższe. Może za nie odpowiadać hiponatremia — najczęstsze zaburzenie gospodarki elektrolitowej w praktyce klinicznej, dotyczące nawet 30% pacjentów hospitalizowanych [1]. Hiponatremia jest również związana z dłuższym pobytem szpitalnym oraz częstszymi rehospitalizacjami [2].
